The effort to update and modernize the US electric grid, generally referred to as the Smart Grid, utilizes numerous technical standards.
Below are some of the Smart Grid standards DGI tests:
- ANSI C12 Suite: A suite of standards describing the revenue metering information model.
- IEC 61850 Suite: A suite of standards addressing substation automation and protection.
- IEC 61968/61970 Suites: Two complementary standards suites for information exchange among control center systems.
- IEEE C37.118: The key standard for Phasor measurement unit (PMU) communications.
- ISO/IEC 18012-2: Specifies requirements for product interoperability in the area of home and building automation systems, with sufficient detail needed to design interoperable Home Electronic System products
- ZigBee/HomePlug Smart Energy Profile 2.0: A specification for devices within the Home Area Network (HAN) to connect and communicate with the utility's Smart Meter and Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
The testing programs available for these technologies are both for conformance assessment and interoperability certification testing.
