 Liberty Alliance
The Liberty Alliance is a global identity consortium with a membership base that includes technology vendors, consumer service providers and educational and government organizations working together to build a more trusted Internet by addressing the technology, business and privacy aspects of digital identity management. The Alliance has technology, business and policy expert groups who work to define market needs, explore regulatory impacts, recognize privacy implications, and publish specifications and guidelines to help identity-aware application deployers to find success.

A critical component to successful deployments of identity-based applications is assurance that deployments will be cost-effective, interoperable with other applications, and well planned--they need to work! Recognizing this need, the Liberty Alliance introduced the Liberty Interoperable™ certification program in 2003, designed to test commercial and open source products against published standards to assure pair-wise interoperability between products. This program has been recognized globally by end deployers for the assurance that it gives them that products work as advertised, saving time, money and critical resources as deployers roll out solutions. At the end of 2006, more than 80 products had passed testing.

In December 2006, recognizing the opportunity to further extend and expand the successful certification program, the Liberty Alliance selected Drummond Group Inc. (DGI) to expand the Liberty Alliance Interoperable™ program to include full-matrix interoperability testing among all participating products. DGI is providing Liberty Alliance with valuable remote testing capabilities and proven full-matrix methodologies to increase the value of Liberty Alliance's industry-leading interoperability program to deployers of certified products. The relationship with DGI enhances the Liberty Interoperable program by adding, among other services, full matrix and global Internet-based testing capabilities. These services will increase the effectiveness of interoperability testing worldwide.
