Rik Drummond,
Chief Executive Officer
and Chief Scientist
As Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientist of Drummond Group Inc. (DGI), Rik Drummond has led the company's technical and research strategies while steering DGI to constant growth and innovation. He is a widely respected authority in the eBusiness industry and a driving force in the technical standards bodies and vertical industry groups supporting B2B commerce. Drummond also has been involved in the development of XML, EDI, EDI over the Internet (EDI-INT) and electronic messaging. Most recently, he served as the chairperson for "Secure EDI over the Internet (AS1 (RFC 3335, AS2 and AS3)," an IETF workgroup with more than 400 members, and led the Work Group for the ebXML messaging standard v1, an initiative organized through the UN/CEFACT and OASIS. He also serves as editor and secretary for the UN/CEFACT Technologies and Methodologies Work Group, and is involved as a team participant on the UN/CEFACT BFSS committee. Drummond's continued leadership in several industries includes collaborating with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as a subgroup leader in an eBusiness Standards Reuse Conversions Workshop, serving as a member of the EC Institute Advisory Board and working on a recent initiative conducted by the Public Health Informatics Institute Executive Workshop.
In addition, Drummond currently serves as chairman of 13 on the GridWise Architecture Council. GridWise is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) task group focused on defining the next generation of information systems for the national electrical generation and distribution power grids.
His vision, business acumen and candor have made him a popular speaker at conferences worldwide and as an expert contributor for major publications on topics such as EDI/XML, EAI, eBusiness trends, architecture and B2B strategies. Before co-founding DGI, Drummond helped drive industry-wide adoption for Internet enabled secure messaging, including consulting industry clients with standards development and architecture strategies. In corporate-level management at General Dynamics, he played a key role in the implementation of the X.400 standard by Value Added Networks, EDI and managed one of the largest e-mail and groupware implementations in the world in the 1980s.
Drummond has been a contributing editor to Electronic Business Advisor and CommerceNet research reports. He also is the co-author of "LAN Times Email Resource Guide" and "Data Communications for the Office."
Beth Morrow
DGI Co-founder and President
Beth Morrow is co-founder and president of Drummond Group Inc. (DGI), a leading global consultancy which drives the adoption for standards by focusing on the technological benefits of interoperability and conformance testing.
Morrow has led marketing initiatives and coordinated industry pilots while building alliances with the standards community, global software vendors, research partners, press and industry analysts. A member of DGI's executive board, she is instrumental in the development of corporate strategies to catalyze growth in a changing technology landscape.
Since co-founding DGI in 1999, Morrow has provided an expert's insightful guidance on B2B e-commerce and built strong alliances with early adopters in multiple vertical industries. She has spearheaded the planning and execution of numerous interoperability tests conducted in a vendor-neutral environment that encourages interaction between test participants to deliver greater benefits to end users.
Morrow has been responsible for driving leading-edge sales and marketing initiatives at DGI, including consulting and publishing related strategic research that fosters e-commerce growth for various industries such as retail, grocery, health care, transportation, government and automotive.
Prior to joining DGI, Morrow facilitated the development of e-business initiatives at CommerceNet and Internet nonprofit consortiums. In addition, she has held management positions in sales and marketing, and served as principal in two design firms.
