AS2 Restart for Very Large Message (VLM)

AS2 Restart is a new profile to be offered in AS2 3Q10. AS2 Restart enables the sending of AS2 messages with very large payloads (500 MB and larger). When sending AS2 messages with these large size payloads, connection timeouts may occur more frequently. When connection timeouts or network failures occur while sending a VLM, AS2 Restart will pick up where it left off without having to resend data that has already been received by an AS2 Server. AS2 Restart eliminates the need to retry an entire AS2 message when connections fail making large payload transfers possible.

Drummond Group will begin certifying the interoperability of AS2 Restart in 3Q10.

The draft specification for AS2 Restart has been submitted to the IETF EDIINT (AS2) working group.
