Drummond Group Publishes White Paper on the Critical Factors for Success in Software and Firmware Interoperability

Fort Worth, TX -April 28, 2009. Drummond Group Inc, the trusted interoperability test lab, announced today the release of the white paper entitled, “Key Success Factors for Building a Successful Interoperability Test Program” written by Rik Drummond, CEO Drummond Group Inc. Many industries and organizations are challenged with software and firmware interoperability issues and the related costs are significant. Often interoperability testing is driven by the technical experts, yet a variety of skills and stakeholders are needed for success. This white papercalls for industry and organizational stakeholders to address six critical factors in building successful interoperability test programs.
A number of industries and organizations in the past have attempted to achieve interoperability among providers of software systems that facilitate the exchange of information within an industry. Some industries have been very successful, and their hard won efforts provide considerable benefit to their users. However, many others have either not succeeded or have made slow progress in their efforts to achieve interoperability. This paper explores the key points that Drummond Group has found that are required to conceive and execute a successful conformance/interoperability testing methodology, and some of the problem areas to avoid – if one wishes to achieve interoperability. It will provide the reader with the high-level principals and guidelines for creating a business plan necessary to build a successful interoperability testing program, regardless of the specific standards or profiles under test. These principals are based on our experiences in conformance/interoperability programs in a number of industries over the last ten years.
