Drummond experts can help you prepare

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has announced the electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS) Interim Final Rule will be finalized next month. The DEA regulations for EPCS outlined in 21 CFR 1311 have been in interim status since they were published in March 2010.

Based on a request for comment posted by the DEA in June 2020, the DEA is evaluating the current two-factor authentication technologies, practices for identity proofing doctors, security practices and auditing criteria. These changes will impact all EHR vendors who support the electronic prescribing of controlled substances.
