FHIR API Certification
Drummond’s FHIR Certification program measures compliance with the new CMS Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (CMS-9115-F) and the proposed rule Reducing Provider and Patient Burden by Improving Prior Authorization Processes and Promoting Patients’ Electronic Access to Health Information (CMS-9123-P).
These rules are designed to further interoperability among payer and provider systems, as well as foster patient access to health information, i.e., claims, encounters and prior authorizations and clinical data. To support access, the rules require CMS-regulated payers and supporting application developers to implement and maintain a secure, standards-based API infrastructure built upon the HL7® FHIR® standard.
