ONC Releases Proposed Rule for Public Comment

ONC Releases Proposed Rule for Public Comment

On April 11, 2023, the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) released the Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability (HTI-1) Proposed Rule for public comment. This proposed rule seeks to implement certain provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act and enhance the ONC Health IT Certification Program.

The proposed rule includes several changes that can impact certification, including Predictive Decision Support Algorithms, Information Blocking enhancements, standards updates such as a new version of USCDI, and other certification criteria revisions.

The comment submission period is open until June 20, 2023. All comments must be received on or before this date in order to be considered by ONC. Comments can be submitted on the Federal Registrar’s website.

We encourage all interested parties to review the NPRM and submit their comments during this period. Your feedback will help shape the future of health IT certification and interoperability.
