Pediatric Health IT Certification Program

Pediatric Health IT Certification Program

Existing Health IT certification programs fail to address the unique needs of pediatric patients and their healthcare providers. These limitations may result in the reduced quality of care for children because clinicians may not have the pediatric capabilities in their EHRs to promote and enable the best child health outcomes. These clinicians would benefit from a pediatric-specific Health IT certification program to promote robust pediatric capabilities that give them the tools and resources to provide quality patient care.

Drummond has partnered with clinical experts to develop the technical testing requirements for the Pediatric Health IT Certification Program which seeks to improve child health outcomes that enables pediatricians with EHR technology specific to their unique needs. These requirements include testing of well-child visits based on the American Academy of Pediatrics Bright Futures recommendations, weight-based dosing, newborn screening, pediatric care team coordination, and more. These requirements have been reviewed and included in the HL7 Pediatric Child Health IT Functional Profile, which updates the specifications for pediatric functionality in EHRs.

EHRs with current ONC Health IT Certification (or in the process of certifying) can register for voluntary Drummond Group’s Pediatric certification and differentiate you organization in the market by showcasing advanced capabilities beyond baseline certification (like Office Practicum).
